Building Bunker Storage’s European Shopify Store for Scalable Growth
Bunker is part of Draper Tools Ltd, which was founded in in 1919 by Bert Draper. The company is an established British tool distributor headquartered in Hampshire, UK. Bunker Storage operates as Draper Tools’ high-end, premium storage brand, known for its modular storage systems, roller cabinets, portable toolboxes and van storage solutions for a range of trade sectors.
Their need.
- Launch a dedicated, transactional European storefront on Shopify
- Support 5 initial European markets (targeting Netherlands, Belgium, France, and Germany) with localised languages (English, French, Dutch, German) and VAT rules.
- Accommodate both D2C online checkouts and a ‘Buy from a Platinum Partner’ pathway for white-glove design measurement, and installation services
- Integrate a 3D Workspace Configurator tool to allow customers to design custom modular cabinet setups and generate itemised SKU lists.
Our response.
- Built a mobile-first European store using our bespoke theme.
- Connected Shopify to Pimberly for single-source product/translations and configured API connections to King ERP for automated stock syncing, order routing and invoicing.
- Configured subfolder routing with automatic IP-location detection, automated currency formatting, and a top-bar banner to redirect UK traffic to the UK showcase site.
- Mapped output data (SKUs, variant IDs, pricing) from the third-party 3D Workspace Configurator directly to Shopify’s cart logic for online purchases or dealer handover.
- Designed PDPs and PLPs to handle unique technical specifications (height, width, depth, and worktop materials) with tabbed navigation, downloadable CAD/PDF manuals, and dynamic out-of-stock ActiveCampaign notification forms.
