Backend Developer

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Developer to join our growing team. Reporting to the Head of Development, the development team is responsible for creating the solutions to challenges our clients face. This can include integrations with a wide range of technologies and bringing those solutions together with shopify. As our company grows, there is room to progress into a management role with this position.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Responsibilities in the role

Website builds in Laravel linked to Shopify including creating third party integrations
Ideally experience ecommerce systems such as Shopify or WooCommerce
Attending and contributing to team based or company wide meetings
Debugging other members of the teams code
Work with cross-functionally to enhance overall user experience of our platforms
Responding to requests from the development and or client services team
Responding to request from clients
Conducting development tests
Contributing to the continuous changes to development process and best practices
Attending discovery sessions and contributing to writing technical specifications

Competencies

Skills and Experience

At least 3 years experience in web development
PHP experience specifically Laravel
Integrating with APIs within Laravel
Thorough knowledge of basic coding languages including HTML, JavaScript and CSS
Knowledge of backend languages such as Liquid (Shopify)
Understanding of the structure of coding languages and how they can be utilised together
Ability to come up with solutions rather then having the solution dictated to them
Knowledge and understanding of SQL based database languages such as MySQL and postgreSQL
Ability to understand and design databases
Knowledge of databases and operating systems
Ability to learn new software and technologies quickly – a platform such as Shopify is constantly evolving and we always aim to bring the newest features to our clients
Ability to follow instructions and work in a team environment
Competent in use of version control systems such as Git
Awareness of web performance best-practice, developing for accessibility

Experience

Nice to haves

Experience developing APIs
Experience integrating with third party APIs – an understanding of the Shopify Admin API would be a big bonus
Experience with Vue.js or React
Experience working with e-commerce platforms such as Shopify, Magento or Woocommerce
Experience running training sessions for Junior members of the team

Salary

£30k – £35k depending on experience

Ability to commute

Quickfire Digital is based in Norwich. A developer should be able to reliably commute to our office. Quickfire Digital allows some remote working, however, we pride ourselves on a great office atmosphere that means much of the development team attend the office each day.
