Women’s cycling kit specialists VeloVixen had a straightforward requirement: the company needed to see a better return from its e-commerce website.
The conversion rate of the site wasn’t as strong as it should have been – sitting at just 1.6% – and, as a result, online sales were not where the business wanted them to be.
Not only that but the existing website, built on Magento, wasn’t showcasing products as well it should have been. In general, the site performance was sub-standard.
The priority was to improve the customer journey, from landing on the site through to product selection, basket and purchase. Firstly, we opted to switch the site from Magento to Shopify. The built-in functionality, e-commerce-focus and straightforward admin panel resulted in an improved structure and functionality while its customisation options ensured that the site looked modern and had the ability to showcase VeloVixen’s wonderful products.
The objective was to dramatically improve the sales performance of the website and within the first eight weeks, we saw a 111% increase in conversion rate, from 1.6% on the old site to 3.4% on our newly-built platform. On top of this, the average order value rose by 68%, delivering performance improvements which led to the company’s best-ever quarter with a total revenue uplift of 220% year-on-year.
